The Amerhart Story
Quality in distribution since 1940
__________________________________________________________

From a small insulation products distributor to one of the largest independently owned lumber and building distributors in the midwest. Amerhart has been built by our association with customers.

Amerhart actually started in 1940 as an insulation and Masonite distributor. After being renamed Hartman Wholesale, we grew through the struggles of war time economy to purchase our first facility in a 90 year old railroad depot in Cormier, a small town adjoining Green Bay, Wisconsin with all of 300 square feet of warehouse space. From this point, through the fifties, Hartman Wholesale did business in the surrounding areas as the smallest of 26 building material distributors serving the area.

A major acquisition occurred in 1963 when HARTman Wholesale purchased AMERican Millwork and Supply. This broadened our product base and laid the foundation for the AMERHART of today. Nineteen hundred and sixty six marked the year of Amerhart's first move to a facility as one company. The late sixties and seventies marked the time Amerhart developed the wholesale lumber and building materials business in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Because of this success and need for bigger facilities, Amerhart moved to its current facility in 1977. At that time we moved to a 22 acre parcel of land and built a facility with 200,000 square feet of covered warehouse storage space.

Amerhart expanded its operations in 1985 with the acquisition of Lumberman's Service of Madison and La Crosse. This gave us the opportunity to serve Minnesota, Iowa and Northern Illinois. In 1989, Amerhart acquired Alexander Warehouse and Sales in Peoria, Illinois.

By purchasing the inventory and equipment of Sequoia Supply in Peoria in 1993, Amerhart expanded its service to include the industrial marketplace. We have since expanded our industrial offerings to all of our locations. We now serve customers in a seven state area of the Midwest.

In June of 1999 Amerhart added a new twist to its company focus with the acquisition of Milwaukee Building Supply.  The purchase added Formica brand products, Lippert molded marble and other industrial related products to the mix.  These product lines further cemented Amerhart's commitment to its growing industrial customer base.

Through continued expansion, Amerhart has served its customers with "Priority Plus Service" and a wide variety of products.
