Go Carbon-Negative with LP SmartSide

LP Building Solutions (LP) has released LP^® SmartSide^® Trim & Siding's first-ever Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This independently verified and registered document details the production process for LP SmartSide Trim & Siding and compares the environmental impact of the life cycle of SmartSide engineered wood with other siding materials.

A major finding of the report is that LP SmartSide products store more carbon than the total greenhouse gas emissions released from resource extraction through to product distribution.

To illustrate the impact of the carbon-negative qualities of LP SmartSide Trim & Siding in real-world terms, LP developed a helpful infographic that highlights a few core facts:  

• SmartSide stores more carbon than is released from the production and distribution of the product
   
• SmartSide is one of the only carbon-negative siding products on the market
   
• 10 Times more carbon is stored in SmartSide than in fiber-cement-based products
   
• SmartSide releases 59% less greenhouse gas emissions, compared to fiber cement products
